Pilgrim Shell Cap | Black

Inspired by the scallop shell, the badge of the medieval pilgrim. It began as the sign of those who walked to the shrine of St James at Santiago de Compostela, and it came to mark anyone who had made a sacred journey. The crusades were themselves armed pilgrimages, and the shell passed into heraldry as the escallop, carried on the arms of families who had taken the road east. This cap honours the pilgrim's vow and the long road taken to keep it.

On the front is a scallop shell in red with four black ribs, set on a red base and outlined in black.
