Acre 1291 Fall of Outremer Poster
On the 18th May 1291, after six weeks of siege by the Mamluk army of Sultan al-Ashraf Khalil, the walls of Acre were breached and the last great stronghold of the crusaders fell. The Templars fought on in their fortress by the sea for another ten days. Within months the remaining crusader towns on the coast were abandoned, and nearly two centuries of Outremer came to an end.
The towers and walls of Acre stand in black silhouette against a night sky ablaze with fire, embers rising over the burning city and ACRE in glowing gold lettering above. A dramatic tribute to the last stand of the Latin East.
Printed on premium 200gsm matte paper with a glare-free finish and rich, deep colour.
