Hospitaller Cross Patch | Black

$22.00

Inspired by the Knights Hospitaller, the Order of St John. They began by caring for sick pilgrims at their hospital in Jerusalem, were recognised by Pope Paschal II in 1113, and became one of the great fighting orders of the Crusades, holding on at Rhodes and Malta long after the Holy Land was lost. This patch honours an order that served with both the bandage and the sword.

At its centre is the eight-pointed cross of the Order, worked in white and silver, outlined in red and bronze on a black field, recalling the white cross the brothers wore on their black mantles. A single bronze ring frames it.

Made to be worn, not kept in a drawer. Put it on your jacket, pack, cap or kit bag as a mark of service, discipline and a brotherhood that outlasted the Crusades.

  • 3 inch embroidered round patch
  • Iron-on backing, can also be sewn on
  • Durable cotton and polyester twill
