Crossbow Beanie | Black

The crossbow was one of the most feared weapons of the Crusades. It could pierce mail at range and took little training to use, and in 1139 the Second Lateran Council condemned its use against fellow Christians. On crusade, crossbowmen guarded the flanks of the marching armies and held the walls of the castles of Outremer. Richard the Lionheart was a noted user of the weapon, and fittingly he died from a crossbow bolt in 1199.
