The last stand of the crusader states.

From 1265 the Mamluk sultans Baybars and Qalawun set out to drive the crusaders from the Holy Land. Caesarea and Arsuf fell in 1265, Safed in 1266, and Jaffa and Antioch in 1268. Krak des Chevaliers fell in 1271, Margat in 1285 and Tripoli in 1289. On the 18th May 1291 Acre, the last great city of Outremer, was stormed, and the remaining coastal towns were abandoned within weeks. Only the tiny island of Ruad held out, until 1302.

Rendered in black and ember red, this map marks every fortress and city with the year it fell, telling the story of the end of an era.

Moody and striking, it is a superb piece for a study or office and a fitting gift for anyone who knows the story of the crusades.

Printed on premium matte paper with a rich, glare-free finish, and set in a dark wood frame, ready to hang.

Sizes: 12x16 in or 18x24 in
