The besiegers besieged.

In August 1189, King Guy of Jerusalem laid siege to Acre with a small army camped on Mount Toron. Saladin soon arrived and surrounded the crusaders in turn, trapping them between the city walls and his own army. For nearly two years the siege ground on, until the arrival of Richard the Lionheart and Philip II of France. Acre surrendered on the 12th July 1191.

This illustrated bird's-eye view shows Acre's double land walls and the Accursed Tower, the harbour and the Tower of Flies, the crusader siege lines and King Guy's camp on Mount Toron, Saladin's army in the hills beyond, and the crusader fleet offshore.

Detailed and full of life, it is a superb piece for military history fans and makes a great conversation starter on any wall.

Printed on premium matte paper with a rich, glare-free finish, and set in a dark wood frame, ready to hang.

Sizes: 12x16 in or 18x24 in
