The Third Crusade Richard the Lionheart Framed Print
The campaign of the Lionheart.
After the fall of Jerusalem in 1187, the kings of Europe took the cross. Frederick Barbarossa drowned in the Saleph River in 1190 before reaching the Holy Land. Richard I of England took Cyprus in May 1191 and joined the great siege of Acre, which fell in July 1191. He then marched south and defeated Saladin at Arsuf on the 7th September 1191, retook Jaffa and rebuilt Ascalon, but twice turned back within reach of Jerusalem. The Treaty of Jaffa in 1192 ended the crusade.
Drawn as a navy and gold sea chart, this piece traces Richard's voyage, his march along the coast and every key battle and siege of the campaign.
Rich and commanding, it is a perfect piece for a study or den and a great gift for fans of Richard the Lionheart.
Printed on premium matte paper with a rich, glare-free finish, and set in a dark wood frame, ready to hang.
